Writer Of The Week! (2/13)

The PCLS Curriculum Department/Teaching and Learning Team developed the W-o-W! Program to recognize the hard work and creativity of PCLS students.

In an effort to help build a community of writers, the team encourages schools to display the W-o-W’s work and asks teachers to use the W-o-W’s work as part of their writing instruction.

Congratulations to Maple Elementary School 5th grader Brandon Irons, who was selected as the next PCLS W-o-W! (Writer-of-the-Week.)

Brandon was presented with a certificate of achievement by a very special guest, his mom Ms. Boruszkowski and allowed to choose a prize from the Writer’s Toolbox. His social studies teacher, Ms. Amanda Cook, submitted his essay, “Aztecs and Mayans,” because he “wrote an excellent comparative essay… he chose different characteristics of the two civilizations to compare and ended his essay with a good conclusion on how the civilization affected the western hemisphere today.”

Brandon will be invited to read his essay at an upcoming Board of Education meeting.

You can read Brandon's essay below.
