In an effort to help build a community of writers, the team encourages schools to display the W-o-W’s work and asks teachers to use the W-o-W’s work as part of their writing instruction.
Congratulations to Heritage Middle School 7th grader Davon Staples, who was selected as the next PCLS W-o-W! (Writer-of-the-Week.)
Devon was presented with a certificate of achievement and allowed to choose a prize from the Writer’s Toolbox. Devon’s English teacher, Mrs. Sarah Stoltz, submitted his poem, “Bumps & Bruises,” because “Devon took his study of analyzing poetry to the next level and created his own free-verse poem with tons of description… [it] showcases his ability to connect to the reader by painting a mental picture.”
Devon will be invited to read his poem at an upcoming Board of Education meeting.
