Let's Celebrate: Hispanic Heritage Night!

You are cordially invited to the very first FREE district-wide Hispanic Heritage Night celebration! Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month on Wednesday October 11, 2017 from 5PM to 9PM.
The event is FREE to attend. There are lots of surprises prepared!
What is pozole? Pozole is a tasty Mexican stew with hominy and chicken or pork!
(OPTIONAL: topped with lettuce, onion, radish, tostadas and salsa verde!)
We will have a Salsa/Pozole competition going on throughout the night (Chili Cook-off Style). To be able to taste and vote, attendees will have to purchase tickets. Tickets will be sold during the event, 10 tickets for $5! Every ticket is a vote for your favorite salsa/pozole and the one with the most votes will win a prize!
RAFFLE (hallway off of cafeteria)
There will be Chinese Auction with a variety of items being raffled off like certificates/gift cards to various restaurants in the area, beauty supplies basket, free haircut certificates, free massage certificates, red raider gear basket... amongst other things! Tickets will also be sold during the event, 10 tickets for $5!
PERFORMANCES (auditorium)
There will be student art displayed throughout the event and also a "community art mural" for you to show off your artistic skills! Students will be performing in the auditorium beginning at 6PM. Performances include: the awesome Choir singing in Spanish, Harvey Bands performing with a Latin twist, student group dancing to a Latin mix! You cannot miss this!
During this time, we will also recognize the students who have exited the ELL program and award them with certificates after the performances.
MUSIC (gymnasium)
Los K-Bros (kah-bros), a popular local Mexican band will be performing starting at 7PM. This band is formed by 5 guys, 4 of whom are former Harvey students! William Aboytes, one of the members of the band has over 30,000 followers on Facebook! They will be performing in the gym... so plenty of room to show off your dance moves!

And most importantly...  THE FOOD (back lot)
In addition to our salsa and pozole competition, there will be various food vendors on the backside of Harvey High School, including: Don Peter's taco truck, street corn, Mexican style home-made ice cream, mangoneadas (mango smoothies), Puerto Rican food and pastries and more!
