The Harvey Club RED Program (Responsible, Employable, Drug-free)

Something that we frequently hear from employers is that they have difficulty filling positions due to the lack of applicants who can pass a drug screening. Regardless of a student’s next step after high school, his or her ability to be certified “drug-free” gives him or her a significant advantage. It is an excellent item to be able to put on any application or résumé.

The Harvey Club Red program provides students with this opportunity. Not only does it make participants more attractive to employers and admission officers, but it also helps to promote a culture of wellness and healthy living among our school and community. This program is strictly voluntary. As an incentive for participation, students who qualify will receive special discounts at several area businesses when they present their membership card.

How the Program Works
  1. All participating students will undergo a drug screening conducted by Great Lakes Biomedical (GLB) at the school in the fall. GLB will issue students who pass their screening a membership card.
  2. A random sample of students will receive a screening from GLB at the school quarterly throughout the year.
  3. Upon completion of each round of testing, GLB will finalize results and will notify the parent/guardian of any positive testing results. Results are 100% confidential, are reported directly to the parent/guardian only and will not be released to any other party without the written consent of the parent/guardian.
  4. If a positive test result occurs, the parent/guardian may request counseling or follow-up testing within the program. GLB will not attempt to diagnose substance abuse problems but can assist with counseling referrals.
This voluntary program is available to any student grades 9-12 enrolled in the district. It is offered at no cost to students and families—the district covers all costs. To participate, please print and return the bottom portion of the application below, signed by both the student and parent/guardian. The parent/guardian will be notified prior to initial testing in the fall.
