The PCLS Curriculum Department/Teaching and Learning Team developed the W-o-W! program to recognize the hard work and creativity of PCLS students.
In an effort to help build a community of writers, the team encourages schools to display the W-o-W’s work and asks teachers to use the W-o-W’s work as part of their writing instruction.
Congratulations to Chestnut Elementary School 5th grader Juan Rea Robles, who was selected as the PCLS W-o-W! (Writer-of-the-Week).
Juan was presented with a certificate of achievement and allowed to choose a prize from the Writer’s Toolbox. Juan’s teacher, Ms. Amanda Crockett, submitted his essay, “Saving Penguins in Africa,” because “he has worked hard on using quotes to support his reasoning. Juan went back to the article and found a relevant quote. Additionally, Juan added text features that we discussed throughout the second quarter like bullet points and images with captions.”
Juan will be invited to read from his essay at an upcoming board of education meeting.
