“Coatmobile” Delivers Coats For Elementary And Preschool Students

Thanks to the annual Coats for Kids campaign and its partnership with the Painesville City Local Schools, the “Coatmobile” delivered over 40 boxes of coats for each elementary school and preschool. More than 600 elementary students will receive new winter coats before winter!

The elementary school guidance counselors will be sorting out the coats and distributing them to students on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.

Thanks to Coats for Kids Cleveland for their continued support and donations to the students in Painesville City Local Schools, Coats For Kids-Cleveland Delivery Stan Urankar, student volunteers from Education Alternatives in Painesville and to the hard working guidance counselors for arranging and making this happen for the elementary students at PCLS.

The annual coat drive and distribution began in 1981 when local radio station employees realized that a large number of children were missing school in the winter because they did not have warm coats. Coats for Kids Cleveland was founded and the radio station began soliciting donations of like-new, gently worn coats and cash donations to purchase new coats. Since that initial campaign, more than $3.25 million has been raised and over 500,000 new or like-new coats have been distributed to children (ages 0 – 18) in need throughout northeast Ohio.
