The PCLS Curriculum Department/Teaching and Learning Team developed the W-o-W! program to recognize the hard work and creativity of PCLS students.
In an effort to help build a community of writers, the team encourages schools to display the W-o-W’s work and asks teachers to use the W-o-W’s work as part of their writing instruction.
Congratulations to Harvey High School senior Carlos Uribe Soto, who was selected as the next PCLS W-o-Ws! (Writers-of-the-Week).
Carlos was presented with a certificate of achievement and allowed to choose a prize from the Writer’s Toolbox. His teacher, Mrs. Samantha Schatz, submitted his essay because “Carlos has worked very hard this past year on his writing. I have had him as my student for 3 years, and I have seen tremendous growth in his ability to use the English language. His essay shows growth in the use of quotes from two different sources as well as his ability to tie the explanations for his quotes back to his thesis in English.”
Carlos will be invited to read from his essay at an upcoming board of education meeting.
