In an effort to help build a community of writers, the team encourages schools to display the W-o-W’s work and asks teachers to use the W-o-W’s work as part of their writing instruction.

Congratulations to Harvey High School 11th grader, Ricora Echols, who was selected as the next PCLS W-o-Ws! (Writers-of-the-Week).

Ricora was presented with a certificate of achievement and allowed to choose a prize from the Writer’s Toolbox. Her teacher, Ms. Kimberly Hildack, submitted her argumentative writing, “National Anthem Finals,” because it is a “critical analysis of a performance based on choral technique and vocabulary that we learn on a daily basis. She used these skills to decide which performance was better and was able to confidently defend her choice.”

Ricora will be invited to read from her essay at an upcoming board of education meeting.
