In an effort to help build a community of writers, the team encourages schools to display the W-o-W’s work and asks teachers to use the W-o-W’s work as part of their writing instruction.
Congratulations to Elm Street Elementary School second graders Alani Reyes, Joshua Gomez, Keyla Rodriguez, Kimberly Aguayo, and Yazmin Padilla-Estrada, who were selected as the next PCLS W-o-Ws! (Writers-of-the-Week). Their teacher, Ms. Kristin Haavisto, submitted their informative writing because “they did a wonderful job making sure their informative writings were neat, had correct sentence structure and grammar, taught the reader information about our topic, and all of them worked very hard on this several week long project. They used resources around the room to find the information and were all around good writers during this project.”
Alani, Josh, Keyla, Kimberly, and Yazmin were presented with certificates of achievement and allowed to choose prizes from the Writer’s Toolbox. They will be invited to read from their writings at an upcoming board of education meeting.
