Harvey Junior Second Nominee at Prestigious Dazzle Awards

The Dazzle Awards presented by Patricia and John Chapman aim to inspire and honor excellence in high school musical theater, and to recognize the importance of musical theater and arts education within the Northeast Ohio community. A panel of adjudicators attend one production at each participating school, provide educational feedback on the official evaluation form and determine nominees and awards for participating schools. This regional program culminates at the Connor Palace with the Dazzle Awards, modeled after the Tony Awards®, to recognize outstanding musical theater productions and students.

Samantha Tackett is our second nomination recipient at Dazzle this year. Samantha, a junior, has been involved with the Arts at Harvey High School for several years.”I am super excited that Samantha Tackett has been recognized with a Best Featured Performer Nomination for her role as Gingy/Sugar Plum Fairy.  Samantha took this role on with great energy and worked hard at using her voice in a very different way for this role.  After her Rotary Award winning performance as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz as a sophomore, this was a very different challenge for her and she was able to continue to develop as an actress and singer.  I look forward to seeing her perform at Playhouse Square and am hoping she is able to bring a Dazzle Award back to Harvey!” - Kim Hildack

Samantha and Malik's nominations have already has a tremendous influence on our Harvey Theater program. We are so proud of their collective achievements, and we cannot wait to see how they do a week from Saturday.

In addition to Samantha, Malik Montgomery was nominated for and will compete for Best Actor. Samantha will perform in the opening and closing numbers alongside Andrea Ortega Sandoval, Estelania De Jesus, Malik Walker, and Marcus Mendez-Gibson who are also a part of the Harvey theater program.

The Awards Ceremony will take place on May 19th at Playhouse Square. To purchase tickets, please visit the attached webpage:
