Harvey High School Sweethearts

We wanted to celebrate Valentine's Day by sharing a story about Harvey High School sweet hearts. We know that there have been many couples who met at Harvey over the years, and we thought that as an annual tradition we would recognize a couple or family whose roots were established at PCLS. The Davis and Alston family have built a strong family unit in Painesville and that story began more than 40 years ago.

Larry and Jeri Davis met at Harvey High School in the 1960’s. Their first date was at the Fairport Mardi Gras and they went to a movie called “Love Story.” They have been married for 47 years this July. Larry is a veteran and 1969 graduate of Harvey High School. He joined the US Air Force in 1970 and retired from Sears in 2013. He was inducted into the Harvey High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 for Basketball and Football. Jeri graduated from Harvey in 1970 and is the secretary at Union Community Church in Painesville. What’s their secret to a good marriage? “Mutual love, respect, and having a god-centered life.” They are the proud parents of Dana Davis and Erin Alston (Rahshahn) who are pictured here with their grandchildren: Tyler, Tatiana, Tamia, Rahshahn II, and Jameson.

Dana Davis is the oldest daughter of Larry and Jeri. Dana graduated from Harvey in 1992. She attended Mount Union, Ursuline College, and Cleveland State University where she received double Masters in Human Resources and Business. She works as a Project Manager for US Endoscopy. Her son Jameson attends first grade at Our Shepherd Lutheran.

Larry and Jeri were not the only two family members to meet at Harvey High School. Erin Alston and her husband Rahshahn Alston met when they were 11 years old (the summer before their 6th grade year) at a playground. They “dated” off and on starting in 6th grade all through high school at Harvey. They both graduated in 1993 and their high school graduation photo together is attached. Their secret to a good marriage is “prayer, laughter, and quality time.” Erin is a Registered Nurse at University Hospitals and is currently in school to obtain her Nurse Practitioner Degree. Rahshahn is a proud successful business owner of a commercial cleaning business since June of 2003. He was inducted into the Harvey High School Hall of fame in 2018 for track, basketball and football. He has coached track at Hobart and Harvey as well as football at Harvey over the years. They have four children.

Tyler Tibayan is their oldest daughter and is a 2012 graduate of Harvey. She attended Mount Union College for one year, then decided to pursue her dream of traveling. She has been on many trips around the world and she just recently returned from Peru. She has plans to travel to Africa and climb Kilimanjaro in July. Next month she is donating one of her kidneys to a little boy she read about on Facebook.

Tatiana Alston is their second daughter and an 11th grader at Riverside. Tatiana has been taking classes at Lakeland since her sophomore year and is hoping to graduate with her Associates degree when she graduates from high school.

Tamia Alston, their youngest daughter, is a 9th grader at Harvey. Their son, Rahshahn (Shahn) Alston II, is a 6th grader at LaMuth.

They are all members of Union Community Church where Pastor Roderick Coffee I presides.

We are so proud of all the amazing accomplishments that have happened for this truly spectacular family! Happy Valentine's Day!
